OUR MISSION
The Irving Marathon was established in 2012 by Lazaro Alvarez and Ronnie Chesko with the vision to give back to the community of Irving/Las Colinas and showcase its beautiful scenic running routes. In 2019, Lazaro Alvarez and Jaclyn Livingston created the Irving Marathon Running Series to keep the community engaged with multiple events year-round and provide an exceptional running experience. Our mission is to create unforgettable running events that promote community health and wellness. Changing Our Future!
The Irving Marathon partnered with the Baylor Scott & White Irving Foundation and Irving, Grand Prairie, and Coppell ISD to encourage students to learn healthy exercise routines and habits. Together we raise funds and awareness to battle childhood obesity at the elementary and middle school level.
100% of donations to the Baylor Scott & White Irving Foundation go toward impacting the current and future health of children via the iRun program. Students are encouraged to get active and learn healthy exercise routines and habits. They are challenged to run the distance of a marathon throughout the school year. They receive incentives to reward their accomplishments at miles 5, 10, and 18. Every $10 donated helps sponsor, roughly 2.5 children to participate in the iRun Program. As a result of our past participants and donors, 11,000 kids have benefited from the iRun program! Thank you to all Irving Marathon Running Series participants and donors. You are truly making a difference in their lives by helping them learn and adopt a healthy lifestyle that they carry into their adult lives and reverse the obesity epidemic.
